Love Promise Stories from Hiley Subaru

Subaru and Hiley Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Subaru's Love Promise Enhances the Freedom of Mobility

I am writing as the Chairman of the Freedom Mobility Foundation to formally express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional support provided by the Hiley Automotive Group. Through their dedicated efforts, Matt Bytheway, Subaru Zone Marketing Manager, Eric Schimmels, Hiley Automotive Group, Abraham Escareno, Hiley Subaru General Manager, and Jeff Wooten, Love Encore ReDelivery Specialist, have truly exemplified the Subaru Love Promise by providing two Subaru Ascents with mobility adaptations installed by Freedom Mobility Foundation to two severely injured military veterans whose injuries both include leg amputations. US Army veteran Carla Best received her Ascent in December 2024 and US Army Veteran Natalie Vines received hers in May 2026. As a military veteran myself and Chairman of the Freedom Mobility Foundation, I frequently witness firsthand the physical and mental challenges injured veterans face. While our foundation strives to raise funds to support these heroes, purchasing vehicles is often beyond our financial reach. When I originally proposed the idea of Subaru providing an all-wheel-drive sedan to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility equipment, Matt Bytheway and Chris Sterling, Regional Parts and Service Manager, transformed that concept into a life-changing reality for not just one, but two veterans. The Freedom Mobility Foundation Board was especially moved by the recognition Natalie Vines received during the April 8th Hiley Subaru Customer "Find the Heart" event held at Hiley Subaru in Fort Worth, Texas. Furthermore, the presence of Subaru of America at the Patriots Luncheon held at the TCU Legends Club and the Patriots Outpost during the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial PGA Golf Tournament at the end of May was highly significant. I would like to specifically thank Matt Bytheway, Chris Sterling, Jeff Wooten, and Colin Poll, DFW Zone Operations Specialist, for their dedicated involvement in these initiatives. Jeff Wooten's championing of the Love Promise Initiative was instrumental in the coordination of all of the moving parts of the presentation of the vehicle to Natalie and the support at the various events this past spring. We are also deeply grateful for the ongoing commitment from the Hiley family, including Holden Hiley and Maddie Hiley. Their partnership has been instrumental in ensuring Natalie, who lives in the DFW area, remains a lifelong member of the Subaru family and has made the implementation of the Subaru Love Promise a seamless and rewarding experience for her. Nothing tells a story better than a recipient's own words. Natalie, in expressing her gratitude for being selected for this gift of a mobility adapted Subaru said, "I am so excited!!! I want to thank Hiley Subaru and the Freedom Mobility Foundation again. I can't begin to tell you how thankful and blessed I am to be chosen for this. I never ever thought something like this would ever happen. This is going to make such a difference in my life. I pray every day and God has blessed me with so much. I asked Brian the other day why is God blessing us with the things that have happened in my/our life and I never ask for anything. I just thank him that I'm still here today and for all my family at Adapted Training Foundation and now you guys. I always use this quote, "God didn't do this to me, he did it for me". Thank you so very much for this honor. I'm so thankful." Thanks to the Hiley Automotive Group and to Subaru of America for the continued partnership and for the profound dedication to supporting the veteran community. Best regards, Maj Gen (Ret) Kevin Pottinger, USAF Chairman, Freedom Mobility Foundation 817-937-5280 kpottinger@freedommobilityfoundation,.org

Hiley Subaru Loves the Earth with the Arbor Day Foundation

At Hiley Subaru, we care deeply about our community and are committed to keeping our neighborhoods vibrant and healthy now and for generations to come. Trees are vital to this effort — they provide oxygen, cool our community, filter water, clean the air, prevent flooding, and improve health. But every year, our community loses trees due to age, disease, infestation, and extreme weather. Subaru and retailers like us are proud to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to help address this problem. This spring as part of our Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, Hiley Subaru provided and distributed 100 mature, regionally appropriate trees that will benefit communities for generations. This year alone, Subaru and its retailers provided and distributed 100,000 trees to communities across the country. Through this new partnership and other initiatives, Subaru and retailers like us have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees so far — and this is just the beginning. Together, we are growing a greener, healthier Fort Worth, TX for generations to come.

Outstanding Service!

We have had Subarus for over 30 years and swear by them! We recently gave away our 1995 to a needy person. It had over 200,000 miles and still started every time. When we bought our 2015 Outback we went to Hiley Subaru for servicing. My husband Geno always took the car and waited for repairs. Our contact was Lauren Miller. While waiting, he would do sudoku and he and Lauren shared that hobby and became friends. He always spoke so highly of Lauren. Geno died from Covid last August and now it was up to me for servicing. I had an emergency problem and brought the car to Lauren. She is a delightful person whom I liked immediately. The problem was some fuel injection part and we had to wait for the part to come in. No loaners were available and our niece from Italy was coming in for the memorial service. Laura worked her magic and I think it was her service manager who loaned us his vehicle. I so appreciated her extra efforts to make that happen during a very stressful time. The fuel injection problem turned out to be 2 parts. I wasn’t prepared for that. Lauren said she had a Subaru customer good-will credit she could offer me. I was astounded. When I first heard there were no loaners, I thought I would have to give up my Subaru because I live in Granbury. Because of Lauren I will keep my Subaru and will come back to Hiley because of her. If you have an award for your employees, I nominate Lauren Miller and hope you know what an outstanding employee you have. Yours Truly, Kathy Y.

Hiley Subaru Blanket Delivery 2019

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas had the amazing pleasure to partner together with Hiley Subaru on June 28 for their Subaru Loves to Care Program. As one of 8 neighborhood retailers, Hiley delivered 80 blankets to Cook’s Children Health Care, while also conveying hope, warmth, and uplifting words of encouragement to those currently being treated and battling for their lives. Each blanket came along with a personal note of hope written by the customers and staff of Hiley that the patients absolutely loved reading. Cook’s went above and beyond by creating a whole arts and crafts event based off the delivery. There were various stations set up with modeling clay, train sets and refreshments for the pediatric patients. Each patient was given a blanket and arts and crafts kit when they entered the event then proceeded to play at the stations. The delivery was a success to say the least. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas is beyond appreciative for the kindness and commitment of Hiley Subaru not only for our mission but also to those in our local community. Seeing the joy on patients’ faces as the blankets were personally delivered was extremely rewarding and heartwarming. We are honored to collaborate with an organization that offers back to the absolute most meriting individuals and carries light to the darkness of a cancer diagnosis.

Out on the Back roads

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Meals on Wheels’ driver Maurice sets out at 10:00 am and gets back to the office at 3:00 pm after delivering our Johnson County Rural Route. This route goes to our most rural and isolated areas in Johnson County. He drives 98 miles roundtrip, averaging stops at 23 stops, checking on and delivering meals to just as many seniors that otherwise would not see anyone or have any contact with the outside world. Many times he does a little extra like picking up their newspapers, getting their mail from their mailboxes, delivering supplemental pet food, if needed for companion pets, and most of all making sure they are safe and secure in their own homes where they want to be. We couldn’t do it without our Subaru Outback! Check out the latest pictures of our Outback in action out on the backroads!

Impact of Subaru Outback

We've had our 2018 Outback for almost six months and have driven more than 6,570 miles delivering over 2,615 meals to seniors in the most rural and isolated areas of Johnson & Ellis counties. Although the value of this vehicle can be validated by statistics, the bigger story is the impact on the lives of those we are able to serve with the help of the Subaru Outback. In 2016, we began serving a sweet couple,Frank and Shirley. Frank is a Veteran that served his country proudly, but now has reached a point that he and his wife are dependent on Meals on Wheels for their lunch meals. That is over two years of meals, more than 1,040 meals and over 725 days that Frank and Shirley have been able to stay healthy and independent in their own home. Frank has PTSD, scoliosis in his neck, high blood pressure, Stage III kidney disease stage, short-term memory loss and Meals on Wheels help keeps him healthy and at home where he wants to be. Once a month, Frank and Shirley also receive AniMeals for their companion pet. So not only is our Outback used to deliver nutrition to seniors, but also to pets that receive supplemental pet food on our rural routes. We are proud of the real-world successes clients like and look forward to our next visit with them.

Santa Delivers Early

Through a faithful, long-term partnership with Hiley Subaru and Meals on Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties, Santa arrived early this year! Meals on Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties unveiled the new 2018 Outback this holiday season. Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties Executive Director Christine Hockin-Boyd was so happy to see the clients’ reactions to the new vehicle most of all. “The clients were so excited to see Santa and our new Subaru. We all giggled as some wanted their picture made with Santa while others ‘oohed and aahed’ in delight of the beautifully wrapped car. Several clients exclaimed how nice Subaru was to give the car to Meals on Wheels knowing how it would benefit us in serving our seniors.” And Santa himself said, “I couldn’t have given a better present myself.” On average each month, MOWJEC drives almost 20,000 miles to deliver meals, and the donated 2018 Subaru Outback enables our staff to reach more seniors and serve more meals each month. But this allows us to be quicker and more efficient in our deliveries. Long range it’s going to play into our hopes to add additional routes to serve more clients.

Hiley Subaru & LLS Bring Warmth to Cancer Patients

On July 17, Hiley Subaru joined forces with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) of North Texas to deliver warmth and hope to patients battling cancer and Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. This delivery was made extra special because the hospital allowed us to come during an ice cream social being held for the patients. When one patient received her blanket and craft kit she smiled and said, "Thank you so much. I love it here!" She had been admitted to the hospital just a few days before, and thanks to Subaru's love promise, she felt joy during a time of many uncertainties.Subaru supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS and patients across the country thank Hiley Subaru for their generosity towards our community! Because of you, our patients feel supported through their treatment and in survivorship. Hiley Subaru Helping Pollinators

A couple of weeks ago, I was at Hiley Subaru helping set up their National Wildlife Federation Butterfly Heroes pollinator planter. I thought I was just going to help them set up, and explain how best to care for their new plants and how much their actions would help pollinators. Instead, I was so pleasantly surprised when a customer came by because he was so enthusiastic about what Subaru was doing to help the butterflies! He was so happy with his information packet and his seeds! He spent time with us sharing his enthusiasm for saving the butterflies and that just made my day!

Subaru event helps deliver nutritious meals!

Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties is proud to continue our partnership with Hiley Subaru to help fight senior isolation and hunger. Employees from Hiley Subaru delivered meals and promoted the partnership by sponsoring a Subaru vehicle in the annual Burleson Rotary Club Christmas Parade to raise community awareness and participation to support local seniors in need. This local effort is part of the Meals On Wheels Association of America partnering with Subaru of America, Inc. for their national year-end "Share the Love" event, designed as a way for Subaru retailers to give back to their local communities. "Subaru has been a great partner for Meals on Wheels programs nationwide", said Vinsen Faris, Executive Director for Meals-on-Wheels. "Not only has Subaru helped to raise money for non-profit organizations, but the Share the Love Event has also raised awareness and helped recruit volunteers, all toward the goal of ending senior hunger", he added. As a proud Subaru "Share the Love" event charitable partner, local Meals On Wheels Member programs that partner with Subaru retailers are eligible to earn grants of up to $35,000. This can provide an extra layer of support to help deliver nutritious meals and other important services to our elderly neighbors in Johnson and Ellis Counties.
